Today’s efforts; again I feel the need to stop and consider awhile. It needs something but I’m not sure what right now. Come back to it tomorrow. I have to say that I prefer the latest version to the one that sold. I think it’s more human and less like an anachronistic byzantinesque icon. References:Continue reading “Assignment 5”

Assignment 5: Personal Project Nos 4,5 & 6
Of the four prints I took from the mountboard plate, one sold and three remain. I’ve decided to work concurrently on these remainders as one complete idea. The following is the point which I reached today. I stopped to blog the work so far because I believed it could benefit from thinking about overnight. IContinue reading “Assignment 5: Personal Project Nos 4,5 & 6”
Oops! Sold it
This is my Assignment 5 project as it stands. However, it is no longer in my possession: I sold it. This leaves me with the versions in blue and in purple to develop using similar methods as those used for the above. I chose to print this image rather than use coloured crayons or anyContinue reading “Oops! Sold it”
Experiment No 4 Assignment 5: Personal Project: Hypervigilance in Blue
I just managed a further couple of prints off the mountboard plate before it began to lose its integrity. Parts began peeling away from the plate as the final print was removed. I intend to use parts of a previous print, from the sectional plate I did earlier, for a collage. These are in aContinue reading “Experiment No 4 Assignment 5: Personal Project: Hypervigilance in Blue”
Experiment No 3 Assignment 5: Personal Project: “Hypervigilance”
This is how far I’ve got with this. I have finished cutting the plate and have taken my first two prints. I discarded the very first for now as water based ink soaks into the plate and comparatively little onto the paper. My plan is to use mixed media and collage techniques to add depthContinue reading “Experiment No 3 Assignment 5: Personal Project: “Hypervigilance””
Experiment No 2 Assignment 5: Personal Project
This first stab gets me thinking. It’s not the clearest print. What I think I’ll do is print all boards in a different colour onto one sheet of A1 cartridge paper. I’ll then collage on areas of this print – such as the eyes as far as the edges of the lenses on the glasses.Continue reading “Experiment No 2 Assignment 5: Personal Project”
Experiment No 1 Assignment 5: Personal Project
I began thinking about this project at the beginning of Part 4 of the Drawing 1: Drawing Skills Module. Initially I thought about creating a cubist style drawing of multiple views of women in superimposed yoga “warrior poses”. But I decided this may be biting off more than I could chew right now. Cubism isContinue reading “Experiment No 1 Assignment 5: Personal Project”
Part 5: Personal Project Prep
As part of my Personal Project for Part 5, I have set out to devise a path or process to produce a print/ mixed media drawing of my face/head. For the benefit of testing out an idea for this, I have produced the following design. Its not the prettiest image. But for the sake ofContinue reading “Part 5: Personal Project Prep”
Assignment 5 prep
I started today by looking at two self portrait sketches: Deciding the first image was the stronger for what I had in mind, I flipped it on my phone and printed it off A4 size. I went over what was a weak print with black biro. I then laid out 8 x A4 sheets ofContinue reading “Assignment 5 prep”
Research point: Portraiture: Exhibition on Screen: A Bigger Picture and 82 Portraits and One Still Life
I went to see David Hockney exhibition “A Bigger Picture” In 2012. I revisited it today via this film about that exhibition – as well as focusing on one other exhibition in 2016: “82 Portraits and One Still Life” What is most immediate about Hockney’s work are his colour choices. The skill with which heContinue reading “Research point: Portraiture: Exhibition on Screen: A Bigger Picture and 82 Portraits and One Still Life”
